{"id":224,"date":"2020-03-04T15:39:56","date_gmt":"2020-03-04T15:39:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/nidanayu\/?page_id=224"},"modified":"2020-03-04T15:39:58","modified_gmt":"2020-03-04T15:39:58","slug":"gastritis","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.nidanayu.com\/index.php\/gastritis\/","title":{"rendered":"Gastritis"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>GASTRITIS\/ACIDITY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gastritis\/acidity is an inflammation or erosion of the lining of\nstomach due to excess secretion of acid by the gastric glands of the stomach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This can be correlated to Amlapitta, in Ayurveda where the pitta\ndosha is vitiated along with vata and impairs the Agni or the digestive fire in\nthe Amashaya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The causes of gastritis include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Atrophic gastritis is a form of gastritis found in the elderly,\nwhere stomach cells are destroyed, potentially leading to pernicious anaemia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A bacterial infection, helicobacter pylori, is believed to be a\nmajor cause of gastritis during the recent years. When addressing gastritis,\nmany researchers now look for substances that eradicate H. Pylori.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Causes and Risk Factors<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Bacterial infection<\/li><li>Although infection with\nHelicobacter pylori is among the most common worldwide human infections, only\nsome people who are infected develop gastritis or a similar stomach disorder.<\/li><li>Smoking or chewing tobacco\nleads to the generation of excessive Pitta in the body, which eventually causes\nAmalpitta or Gastritis.<\/li><li>Ingestion of caustic poisons,\nalcohol, and certain medications like aspirin or steroids.<\/li><li>Physical stress from flu, major\nsurgery, severe burns, or injuries.<\/li><li>A drug allergy or food\npoisoning.<\/li><li>Injudicious use of pain\nrelievers<\/li><li>Alcohol use<\/li><li>Stress<\/li><li>Autoimmune condition<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Signs &amp; Symptoms<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Indigestion (dyspepsia)<\/li><li>Abdominal pain<\/li><li>Hiccups<\/li><li>Nausea<\/li><li>Vomiting<\/li><li>Dark stools<\/li><li>Heartburn<\/li><li>Loss of appetite<\/li><li>Gnawing or burning pain<\/li><li>Indigestion<\/li><li>Heaviness in upper abdomen<\/li><li>Nausea<\/li><li>Vomiting<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AYURVEDIC TREATMENT FOR AMLAPITTA:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main key for treating Amlapitta is to improve digestion. As the\nsaying goes\u201cPrevention is better than cure\u201d it is better to avoid all the\ncausative factors of Amla-pitta. One should follow the meal times. Avoid eating\nspicy foods, or foods containing excess amount of garlic, salt, oil, chillies,\netc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gastritis or urdhvaga amlapitta is caused by vitiation of pitta. The\nbest therapy for the correction of pitta is purgation. Ghee also plays an\nimportant role in alleviating pitta. Therefore, medicated ghee, which works as\na laxative as well, is useful in the treatment of this condition. Commonly\nSukumara ghrita is used for the treatment of this condition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Amalaki <\/li><li>Dhatri lauha <\/li><li>Avipattikara churna <\/li><li>Coconut and white variety of\npumpkin are also used as medicine for the treatment of this condition.<\/li><li>Herbs and Medicines<\/li><li>Licorice <\/li><li>Asparagus racemosus (shataavar)\n<\/li><li>Emblica officinalis (amla)<\/li><li>Dhaatri loha<\/li><li>Sootasekhara rasa<\/li><li>Sukumaara ghrita, <\/li><li>Kaamdudha ras<\/li><li>Leelaavilas ras<\/li><li>Chandrakala ras <\/li><li>Amalpittantak ras.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Diet to taken by Gastritis patients: Barley, wheat, rice (preserved\nfor one year), soup of moong dal, parched rice, cucumber, bitter gourd, patola,\ngreen banana, banana flower, white pumpkin, pomegranate and cow&#8217;s milk are\nconsidered to be exceedingly useful for the treatment of this condition. Sesame\nseeds, mash, kulattha, gram, pungent and sour things, heavy food, curd and\nalcoholic drinks are harmful. The patient should preferably be kept exclusively\non milk diet (added with sugar) or on a diet consisting of milk and old rice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other regimens: The Gastritis patient should not expose himself to\nhard mental or physical work. He should avoid anxiety, worry and anger. He\nshould be given complete rest.
