Some of the common lifestyle diseases predominantly affecting the life of the people include hypertension, depression, stress, diabetes, cholesterol, obesity, loss of bone density, poor vision, rheumatism, arthritis etc. Occurrence of one condition invites the associated conditions.Modern medicine or the Allopathic medicine can only alleviate the symptoms of diseases and many of these lifestyle diseases require the patient to rely on medicines to manage the health. While many of these lifestyle diseases have no remedial treatment in modern medicines, fortunately many people could get find the cure with Ayurvedic medicine.

Ayurveda is the Life Science gives more importance to the Prevention of the Disease and Protection of the Health. Diet regimen, daily regimen, Night regimen and seasonal regimen are the different concept which is told in Ayurveda classics which is very much suitable in the present scenario.
A day has 2 cycles:
Day cycle (Sun cycle)
Night cycle (Moon cycle)
For each cycle, there is 4-hour sequence dominated by Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.
Day cycle- Sunrise to Sunset- (6 am to 6 pm)
* 6 am to 10 am –Kapha
* 10am to 2pm- Pitta
* 2 am to 6 pm- Vata
Night cycle- Sunset to Sunrise- (6 pm to 6 am)
* 6 pm to 10 pm –Kapha
* 10 pm to 2 am- Pitta
* 2 am to 6 am- Vata

Prevention through Diet
- Avoid excess use of Dairy products and oily foods.
- Avoidance of Alcoholic beverages and Tobacco.
- Avoidance of junk food.
- Limitation for sugary products.
- Follow prudent diet. Total fat intake restricted to 20-25% of total energy, daily salt intake restricted to 5gm, Carbohydrate and fibre rich food intake.
- Food should be taken depending upon the Digestive capacity of the Person.
- Heavy food stuffs should be taken half of the satiety and Light food can be taken up to the Satiety but not more than that.
- Classics say half of the stomach should be filled with solid foods, one fourth should be filled with liquid food and remaining one fourth should be kept empty for the movement of Air.
Prevention through lifestyle changes.
- Daily regimens like wakening up Early in the morning.
- Drinking lukewarm water in the early morning.
- Practice of medicated oil massage, yogasan and physical exercise.
- Undergo seasonal Purgatory procedure.
